Sheriff’s Deputy Celebrates Retirement With Elevator Dance Party

By Barbara Diamond

Deputy Tony Scherb of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office recently retired after 29 years on the job. The deputy, who has a reputation of being “highly professional,” decided to change gears and go out with a bang while standing in the department’s elevator. Lucky for us, the camera was rolling when Scherb heard Silento’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” The awesome footage has since gone viral with over three million views. People everywhere are falling in love with the man and his moves.

But just when you think it’s a party-for-one, Deputy Reed enters the elevator. At first, she stands completely still and stoic — but it’s not long before she starts dancing, too! Then, the dance break is suddenly interrupted when the doors open to their chief deputy. Scherb’s reaction is hilarious — he gives his boss a professional salute and tries to pretend like there was no funny business going on just moments before. The second the boss leaves the elevator, however, the dancing duo goes right back to doing the “stanky leg” dance before being joined by yet another good-spirited sheriff. What a hilarious off-the-cuff moment. Perhaps Tony has found a brand new calling… as a backup dancer.
